To the fae of the Sorcen Court, Princess Allina Kingsdaughter is a traitor and a fugitive, inevitably claimed by the same madness that cost her father his crown and his life. Ensnared by the lies of her uncle, the reigning Sorcen King, they will never know the truth of her betrayal.

A traitor princess.

After the tragic deaths of Allina’s parents when she was five, her uncle ascended to the throne in the ensuing chaos, bringing peace and prosperity to Sorcen for the following fourteen years. Allina has always considered him her true father—until the day he orders her death and starts a war by kidnapping Prince Cohrven Nightheart, heir to the Liral Court, a wicked realm Allina’s only heard of in whispers.

A captured prince.

Everyone fears the Nightheart. When he was twelve, he earned his name and his dark reputation as a monster without mercy—or remorse. Since then, rumors of his unrivaled cruelty have only grown.

An evil that has been waiting…

When Cohrven is tortured by her uncle in a gruesome spectacle, Allina uses her hidden illusory magic to save him and escape, but not before his wings are shredded. As her uncle hunts them, time is running short before Liral retaliates in a devestating attack that Cohrven assures will annihilate Sorcen and everyone Allina loves along with it. To survive and preserve the Court that has forsaken her, Allina has to trust that Nightheart, even when he leads her to an ancient evil that could be their destruction.

I cannot praise "Wings of Starless Night" by Sadie Sterling enough. From start to finish, this book had me completely enthralled and emotionally invested in the characters and their journey. The slow development of the relationship between Cohrven and Allina was masterfully crafted, drawing me deeper into their world with each passing page.

One of the aspects that stood out to me was the way Cohrven's true character was revealed over time. He defied expectations and proved to be a complex and multi-dimensional character. It was a delight to unravel the layers of his personality and see the depth of his emotions. Allina, too, was a wonderfully flawed character. Her fears and doubts made her relatable and added a layer of authenticity to her struggles.

The fae world that Sadie Sterling created in this book was absolutely captivating. I appreciated that the story was entirely focused on the fae, with only mentions of humans. The concept of all fae having wings, reminiscent of traditional fae and faeries, added a touch of whimsy and enchantment to the narrative. The attention to detail in describing the wings, making them more akin to fae and faeries rather than bat or bird wings, was a refreshing and imaginative choice.

But it wasn't only the characters and world-building that made this book exceptional. The plot was filled with tension and suspense, constantly keeping me on the edge of my seat. Each chapter brought new twists and turns, making it impossible to predict what would happen next. The prose was beautifully crafted, with a perfect balance of description and action, making the story flow effortlessly. I found myself racing through the pages, eager to uncover the next revelation.

The romance aspect of the book was another highlight for me. The enemies-to-lovers trope was executed flawlessly, adding an extra layer of complexity to the relationship between Cohrven and Allina. Their interactions were filled with chemistry and palpable tension, making every scene they shared electric and captivating. The slow burn nature of their romance allowed for a gradual and believable development of their feelings, making their connection all the more satisfying.

As I reached the end of "Wings of Starless Night," I was left craving more. The cliffhanger ending left me desperate to know what happens next and how everything will turn out for Allina and Cohrven. I eagerly await the release of the second book in the series, eager to continue this enchanting journey and delve deeper into the lives of these captivating characters.

In conclusion, "Wings of Starless Night" is an outstanding book that seamlessly blends elements of romance and fantasy. It offers a compelling story, rich world-building, and well-developed characters that will keep readers hooked from beginning to end. If you are a fan of enemies-to-lovers stories, intricate relationships, and a touch of magic, I wholeheartedly recommend giving this book a read. You won't be disappointed.
