Book Review: Beneath the Alabaster Spire (The Immortal Orders, #2)

What book or series would you die to see turned into a movie or TV show?

I think this series would make an excellent show on the CW or MTV. There’s a lot of emotional drama between the characters, not just romantically but also within their respective families, that I think this story would do excellent on either of those networks.

In a similar vein to The Shannara Chronicles or Shadowhunters, The Immortal Orders contains intricate and in-depth world building intertwined characters navigating every day life. I would be jazzed to see this series on screen.

★★★★☆ — in love
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ — spicy

In Beneath the Alabaster Spire, I was taken on a captivating journey filled with romance and fantasy. The story follows Harlow Krane and Finn McKay as we try to enjoy our summer in Nea Sterlis, only to find that our past troubles have followed us. As the problems escalate and tensions rise, Harlow and Finn must face the storm that awaits us, testing the limits of our love and determination.

One of the highlights of the book is the exploration of the Illuminated and Harlow's ancestry. Learning more about these aspects adds depth and intrigue to the story, keeping me engaged and eager to uncover the secrets of the world Waechter has created. Harlow's character is particularly well-developed, with relatable doubts and fears that I identified with many times. This relatability enhances my emotional connection to the story and makes Harlow a compelling protagonist.

The fictional world-building is truly impressive. Waechter has crafted a detailed and intricate history, weaving together various elements to create a vast mythology. The depth of the world-building adds richness to the story and immerses me in a captivating and immersive reading experience.

As the second book in the series, it leaves me eager for the conclusion. The anticipation for what comes next is palpable, and my desire to see how Harlow and Finn's journey unfolds will keep me invested in the series.

Overall, Beneath the Alabaster Spire is a delightful blend of romance and fantasy, offering an engaging story with well-developed characters and a captivating world. Fans of the genre will find themselves hooked from start to finish, eagerly awaiting the final installment in The Immortal Orders series.
