Liris has always been too dangerous to be allowed freedom.

Now she's the universe's only hope.

Liris has been trapped training as an elite spy her whole life. But when her elders try to sacrifice her to further their own interests, she escapes through a secret portal—only to land right in the hands of Lord Vhannor, the most dangerous spellcaster in the universe.

Vhannor has dedicated his life to defending the universe from world-devouring demons, and Liris, with her unique knowledge of an ancient spell language, jeopardizes his mission. But when she uses it to help him close a demonic portal before it can destroy all life in that dimension, he's forced to acknowledge he needs her by his side.

As they race between dimensions to fight their mutual enemies, they discover a plot that will leave every remaining realm in the universe at the mercy of demons. But to stop it, Liris will have to rely on the man whose icy gaze sees right through her... and when even her own people betrayed her, how can she trust Vhannor to stand by her when she risks the whole universe?

The Sundered Realms is equal parts epic fantasy and steamy romance in a world where being a huge nerd about language makes you incredibly epic at magic. This is an action-packed story about an interdimensional combat ambassador heroine and the most dangerous man in the universe devoting all his attention to making her unstoppable.

★★★★☆ — in love
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ — spicy

From the very first page, "The Sundered Realms" proved to be a stimulating and intelligently crafted read. What captivated me most was the unique magic system. The author, Casey Blair, ingeniously used language to create spells, showcasing a creativity and depth that was nothing short of brilliant. This innovative approach breathed new life into the fantasy genre for me.

The main characters, Liris and Vhannor, were both depicted as highly intelligent individuals, which I greatly admired. Their interactions were engaging and their efficient teamwork was a testament to their well-rounded character development. I was particularly drawn to their slow-burning romance. It was a refreshing change of pace from the usual whirlwind romances often found in such novels. Their attraction felt authentic and well-earned, accurately reflecting the complexities and subtleties of two intelligent people falling for each other.

Another aspect of the book that kept me completely engrossed was the relentless action. The story unfolded at a swift pace, making it a quick and exhilarating read. Every chapter brought a new twist or turn, keeping me on the edge of my seat throughout.

One character that stood out for me was Liris. Her character development was truly remarkable. She transformed from a stifled, seemingly emotionless individual to a vibrant and passionate person. Witnessing her journey and growth was an emotionally gratifying experience, making her one of the most intriguing characters I've come across in recent times.

Vhannor, too, was a character I greatly enjoyed. His intelligence and his fear of swaying anyone away from their desires added depth to his personality. His character provided a satisfying contrast to Liris, adding another layer to their dynamic.

In conclusion, "The Sundered Realms" was a thoroughly engaging read. The characters were well-written, the story was intriguing, and the pacing was executed perfectly. The unique magic system, the intelligent main characters, the slow-burn romance, the relentless action, and the impressive character development all came together to create a book that was both enjoyable and thought-provoking. It's a book I would highly recommend to any fantasy enthusiast.
