When two young rival journalists find love through a magical connection, they must face the depths of hell, in a war among gods, to seal their fate forever.

After centuries of sleep, the gods are warring again. But eighteen-year-old Iris Winnow just wants to hold her family together. Her mother is suffering from addiction and her brother is missing from the front lines. Her best bet is to win the columnist promotion at the Oath Gazette.

To combat her worries, Iris writes letters to her brother and slips them beneath her wardrobe door, where they vanish—into the hands of Roman Kitt, her cold and handsome rival at the paper. When he anonymously writes Iris back, the two of them forge a connection that will follow Iris all the way to the front lines of battle: for her brother, the fate of mankind, and love.

Shadow and Bone meets Lore in Rebecca Ross's Divine Rivals, an epic enemies-to-lovers fantasy novel filled with hope and heartbreak, and the unparalleled power of love.

I was absolutely thrilled from start to finish. From the moment I picked up the book, I was captivated by the 1920s/WWI vibe infused with mythical gods. It felt like a unique blend of historical fiction and fantasy.

The story had a touch of You've Got Mail with the anonymous letter writing and romantic advice from a rival. It added an extra layer of excitement and anticipation to the plot. The slow burn romance between Iris and Kitt was beautifully portrayed. Their connection was palpable, and I found myself rooting for them throughout the book.

The moments of combat were intense and kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't help but wonder what would happen and if everyone would survive. The author did an incredible job of building tension and keeping me engaged.

The twist in the story completely caught me off guard, and I loved every moment of it. It added an unexpected element that kept me guessing and wanting more. And let's talk about that cliffhanger ending! It was devastating in the best possible way. I'm anxious to get to the next book to find out what happens next.

Overall, Divine Rivals absolutely lived up to the hype. It had a perfect balance of romance, action, and suspense. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys enemies-to-lovers stories with a touch of mythology. It's a must-read for fans of epic fantasy and heartwarming love stories.
