Unboxing: December 2023 Book Boxes

Welcome to my December unboxing blog post! In this edition, I am thrilled to showcase the amazing contents of the OwlCrate December book boxes. The two featured books were  To Kill a Shadow by Katherine Quinn and The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent. Join me as I delve into the magical worlds of these captivating stories and discover the delightful surprises that await inside the boxes.

OwlCrate Adult Fantasy Book Only — Love & Power

Inside December’s Adult Fantasy Book Only box was an exquisite special edition of The Serpent & the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent. She’s an indie author who recently got picked up by Bramble Publishing which means her book was rereleased under their imprint.

This exclusive cover was designed by @ruavegraphics, and trust me when I say the pictures do not do it justice! It even has a book ribbon and solid sprayed edges!

This beautiful, reversible dust jacket was designed by @imjenndove. I love how they depicted Raihn and Oraya. They look magnificent.

The foil case was designed by @niallcgrant, and it might be my favorite part of the redesign. (I’m a sucker for a pretty naked cover.)

The foiled end papers were illustrated by @alicemariapower, and are so incredibly beautiful. I love the foil touches. They make it feel so fancy!

I’m so excited to have a special edition of this book because I loved this duology when I first read it, and the author is one of my favorites!

OwlCrate Young Adult Book and Goodies — The Dark Devours

This Faux Book Journal is based off the world created in Daughter of Smoke and Bone, and was designed by Lichen and Limestone. Their faux book journals are so pretty. I need to find something to use them for if I don’t end up giving them away.

I am a sucker for stationary, and I love Kingdom of the Wicked so this Wrath and Emilia pen set made me exceptionally happy! Both write in black ink, but they glide so smoothly, and have quickly become my pens of choice (until the ink runs out). This cute set was designed by Blissfully Bookish.

I immediately drank the dark hot coca by Moonstruck Chocolate Co. so I didn’t get a picture of it (oops!), but that should let you know how good it was! I will definitely be purchasing more to keep on hand for the rest of the chilly winter season!

This Treasured Tomes Pin Banner excited me probably more than it should have because I had been searching for a solution to show off my newly growing collection of bookish pins, but OwlCrate read my mind and solved the problem for them! This nifty banner was made by @no0nedesigns, and perfectly fits all your bookish pins on their own little shelves!

This month’s Treasured Tomes enamel pin was Fourth Wing! I like that they listed the quadrants and some of the advice from Brennon, and who doesn’t love Violet’s signet of Tairn and Andarna? This beautiful pin was also designed by @no0nedesigns!

The Young Adult book was To Kill a Shadow by Katherine Quinn. I’ve had my eye on this book for a couple months, and I’m so excited to have my own, incredibly beautiful special edition! This beautifully redesigned cover was done by @pyrrhics, and includes solid sprayed edges.

The reversible dust jacket features some gorgeous artwork by @panjooolart.

This beautiful foil design on the naked cover was done by @niallcgrant who also did the foil work for the adult book!

The beautiful artwork on the end pages was done by @imjenndove who also did the artwork for inside the reversible dust jacket of the adult book.

OwlCrate really offers exquisite quality items, and I’m happy to have subscribed to both boxes. I can’t wait to start getting my boxes from Bookish Box to see what amazing things they have to offer too!
